Spanish with Salsa was founded on August 10, 2020, by Carol Haro, a language educator who discovered — first in the classroom, then aboard international cruise ships — that learning a language is never just about words, but about people. The name itself comes from her nickname, "Salsa," and reflects the energy, warmth, and rhythm she loves about Hispanic cultures.
Tired of learning experiences that focus only on rules and textbooks, Carol built Spanish with Salsa around real conversation and cultural connection. What began as online lessons during the pandemic has grown into a space where students learn Spanish in a way that feels personal, meaningful, and alive — because speaking differently is only part of the journey; the rest is connecting more deeply with people and new ways of seeing the world.

Is an absolutely incredible teacher! My 6.5 year old son really enjoyed the lesson! My wife and I are both former educators, and we both speak Spanish, but she is next level. She made the whole lesson super fun with a lot of different forms of media and was good at pushing our son to speak in the target language.

She is an outstanding teacher. Our 30-minute sessions feel like catching up with a friend, never awkward, and she always knows when to jump in with help or push me a bit harder. Her lessons are creative and tied to what's actually happening in the world right now, like recent vocabulary built around the World Cup. What stands out most is how well she reads your skill level and tailors lessons to your interests and where you actually need growth. She genuinely cares about your progress. My daughter has been taking Spanish lessons since she was nine years old. I was able to find a way to engage a child who did not know a single word in Spanish, and explain grammar and vocabulary to her in a way she will understand. Their lessons are entirely in Spanish, and the teacher always sends materials that were used in class for review. We are very pleased with how the classes are going and Spanish language development. Definitely recommend!

I've been taking lessons for several months now, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Every lesson is engaging, well-structured, and enjoyable. We usually start with conversation practice, which has really improved my speaking and listening. The teacher always brings interesting topics and shows genuine interest in what I have to say, making our conversations natural and motivating. I always look forward to our classes and couldn't ask for a better teacher.
